We're just 10 days away from the next chapter in the final season of Stranger Things, as Netflix releases a trailer for what it calls Volume 2. This volume includes episodes five through seven, with the ultimate episode set to be Volume 3.

Season 4 concluded with Vecna—the main antagonist—opening a gateway, allowing the Upside Down to seep into Hawkins. Season 5, Volume 1 started with a time jump yet came full circle with the third anniversary of Will's mysterious disappearance from Season 1.
In Volume 1, Hawkins found itself under military control with Vecna, in his human form as 'Mr. Whatsit' (a nod to A Wrinkle in Time), targeting a new generation of children. He abducted Holly Wheeler, transporting her to the Upside Down where she discovered an unexpected ally in Max, who, despite being in a coma, hid her consciousness in one of Vecna's memories. Meanwhile, Dustin grappled with the loss of Eddie Munson from Season 4, causing tensions with Steve. The rest of the group focused on gathering resources and aiding Eleven and Hopper in their quest to track down Vecna in the Upside Down. They stumbled upon Kali/Eight, Eleven's psychic 'sister,' detained in a military lab.
The storyline intensified at the military base when Vecna's demogorgons launched an attack to capture 11 more children, decimating the soldiers in their path. A major twist revealed that Will, kidnapped by Vecna in Season 1, possesses supernatural powers himself. Able to access Vecna's hive mind, Will leveraged these abilities to save his friends from the demogorgons' onslaught.
