Torvill and Dean Celebrate Latest Honours and Reflect on Decades of Success

Torvill and Dean expressed to the BBC that their latest accolades, awarded for services to skating and the voluntary sector, mark the 'culmination' of their 50-year partnership, which concluded in July with a final tour.

Initially, Torvill received a notification about her damehood, leading Dean to wonder if he had been overlooked. However, his recognition arrived by post a few days later.

Reflecting on their accomplishments, the duo, who began training together as teenagers, described their Olympic triumph as 'just amazing.' Dean recounted the serene yet surreal experience during their performance, saying, 'We were almost lost in a dream when we were doing it. In the arena, it was really quiet. [It felt like it was] just the two of us.'

It was only upon returning to Nottingham that they realized their impact, as the city organized a street parade in their honor. 'It was lined from where Jayne lived to the city center. We were rock stars for a day,' he added.

In a separate note, Wiegman shared her surprise at the 'respect and warmth' she's received from the English people since taking on the role of England manager, attributing success to her players and staff. 'This title is a reflection of my exceptional team of players and staff,' she said. 'Our team values mean that when there is recognition for one, then there is recognition for all. I'm proud to work alongside such a dedicated group of people.'
